Jose Reyes=Honus Wagner

4 09 2008

According to Matthew Cerrone at Metsblog.com Jose Reyes is on pace to hit roughly .300, with 15 home runs, 70 RBI, 15 triples, 40 doubles, 115 runs scored and 60 stolen bases. The last shortstop to hit .300 with 50 stolen bases, 20 doubles, 15 triples and 10 home runs was Honus Wagner in 1908 for the Pirates.

Yeah, so that is really amazing.  Even more amazing is the fact that Reyes was left off the All-star team in favor of Miguel Tejada.  Some have been saying that Carlos Delgado is coming up in discussions for MVP along with David Wright.  While both are deserving candidates I think Reyes is team catalyst and should be MVP if the Mets win the division.
